Professor Jane Fernandez

Provost, Excelsia University College

Professor Jane Fernandez holds the position of Provost at Excelsia. Jane was formerly Vice-President, [Learning and Teaching] and later Vice-President, [Quality & Strategy] at Avondale University College [now Avondale University[.

In these combined roles, Jane led the work of institutional development through leading both Excelsia and Avondale's successful university college achievements. Jane also led Avondale's achievement of full self-accrediting authority. She founded and continues to lead the national-based Higher Education Provider Quality Network (HEPP-QN) through which she fosters collaborative practice and national standards-based engagement in a range of initiatives including workshops on scholarship, governance, learning and teaching, assurance of learning, assessment reform, student support, self-assurance and quality assurance.

Jane has been intentional in enabling the student voice and has facilitated student panels and student conferences. She has also worked enthusiastically to develop academic leaders. Jane is a member of the TEQSA Register of Experts. She is committed, through collaborative practice, to leadership mentoring and to advancing the national reputation of higher education in Australia.
