Associate Professor Jan McLean
Director of Teaching Learning and Curriculum, University of Technology Sydney
Jan McLean has over two decades of experience leading strategic initiatives to enhance learning and practice in higher education and led the institutional response to the impact of artificial intelligence on learning and teaching at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) as the Director of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum. Central to UTS’s approach is a whole-of-system strategy for curriculum transformation and assessment reform (available open access).
Jan was a key contributor to the national TEQSA report Assessment Reform in the Age of GenAI and co-author of the companion publication Enacting Assessment Reform. Her research explores the evolving landscape of higher education and its implications for learning and academic work. She is currently investigating student perspectives on generative AI (GenAI) in education as part of a multi-institutional study. Jan is committed to sector-wide collaboration, working with providers to develop inclusive and adaptive approaches that support institutions, staff, and students to thrive in a rapidly changing higher education environment.
